Seaworld Fatal helicopter crash Four people have died following a crash involving two helicopters on the Gold Coast today (January 2). Initial investigations indicate the crash occurred around 2pm when one helicopter was landing and another was taking off near Seaworld Drive in Main Beach. One of the helicopters managed to successfully land on a sandbank. Four people, travelling in the crashed helicopter, were declared deceased at the scene. A further three people, also travelling in the crashed helicopter, suffered critical injuries and were taken to hospital. Six people were travelling in the helicopter that landed safely. Five patients in this helicopter suffered minor injuries and were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital. One person was physically uninjured. Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing with assistance from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau. There is no further information available at this time. Two Police officers Down, Major police incident, Wieambilla   A major police investigation is underway following the deaths of multiple people including two police officers during a shooting incident in the Western Downs yesterday (December 12). Around 4:30pm, four officers were in attendance at a property on Wains Rd at Wieambilla in relation to a missing person investigation. Initial information indicates the officers were shot by two armed offenders as they approached the residence on the property. A member of the public was also shot and declared deceased at the location. Two other officers who attended were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An emergency declaration was declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act provisions, encompassing the area of Chinchilla Tara Rd, Wieambilla Rd, Bennetts School Rd, and Mary Street. Queensland Police, Speeding motorists put on notice

Speeding motorists are being put on notice as police ramp up efforts to stop the rising trauma on Queensland roads. Twenty lives have already been lost on Queensland roads in February while 600 people have been injured in traffic crashes. Queensland’s Lives Lost toll stands at 40, which is 3 more than at the same time last year and more than double that at the same time in 2020 (18). Acting Chief Superintendent Ray Rohweder said speed continued to be a contributing factor in the majority of serious crashes. “Already this year we have seen a lot of trauma, a lot of shattered families and a lot of preventable tragedies on our roads,” Acting Chief Superintendent Rohweder said. “In many of these incidents, excessive speed has been the main cause of the crash.” He said police had ramped up enforcement activity, conducting operations across the state. “Our officers are seeing extremely dangerous risk-taking behaviour on our roads, particularly when it comes to speeding. “Some of the worst of...

Watch Jewellery theft, Gold Coast Police seek Public Assistance

Jewellery theft Photo Queensland Police Police are seeking public assistance to identify two people following the theft of jewellery from a Gold Coast shop. Around midday on February 21, a man and woman (pictured below) entered a jewellery store at a shopping centre in Coomera. The male is believed to have accessed a drawer and removed a gold bracelet before leaving the store shortly after. The bracelet is valued at approximately $7,500 The man is Caucasian, approximately 175cm tall with short dark hair and possibly aged in his fifties or sixties. The woman is Caucasian with dark brown hair and dark eyes, and was seen wearing dark jeans and a white shirt. Both the man and woman are believed to have New Zealand accents.  If you recognise these people or know of their whereabouts, please contact the police. Police Video, Vehicle driven into Hervey Bay shopping centre early hour burglary

Queensland Police have released a video of three men they believe could assist in their investigations after a Hervey Bay shopping centre was broken into during the early hours of Friday morning, January 22. Around 3 am a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe was used to force entry into a shopping centre on Central Avenue in Urraween, where it was then driven into the roller door of a jewellery store. A man and a woman have been charged after a firearm, ammunition and drugs were located in a vehicle at the border checkpoint at Tugun. It is alleged police intercepted a car around 8.45pm on July 22 and discovered drugs inside the vehicle and a modified pump action shot gun and ammunition in a bag in the boot. A 24-year-old Waterford man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of weapons Category D/H/R weapon, offence in relation to unauthorised and prohibited explosives, bringing stolen goods into Queensland, forgery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on August 19. A 23-year-old Lismore woman from has been charged with two counts of possessing a dangerous drug (namely amphetamine and cannabis). She is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 21. Investigations are ongoing.
