South-East Queensland Covid Lockdown

Image
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced that South-East Queensland will enter a three-day lockdown from 4pm today, Saturday 31 July. This follows the detection of six new locally acquired cases connected to the confirmed case announced yesterday. This includes immediate family members, a UQ medical student and teacher at Ironside State School. The Premier said strong measures announced today go further than previous lockdowns because the Delta strain is more dangerous. “We’ve seen the evidence, both in Queensland and interstate,” the Premier said. "We must go hard and go fast. "I know this will impact on many families but there is no alternative. "We will support affected businesses with details of a support package to be announced by the treasurer in coming days.” Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath urged Queenslanders to abide by the lockdown and continue to wear their masks. “Masks are a vitally important line of defence,” the Minister said. “I...

Statements by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the USA 29 July

Image
Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the USA Donald J. Trump: Hard to believe our Senate Republicans are dealing with the Radical Left Democrats in making a so-called bipartisan bill on “infrastructure,” with our negotiators headed up by SUPER RINO Mitt Romney. This will be a victory for the Biden Administration and Democrats and will be heavily used in the 2022 election. It is a loser for the USA, a terrible deal, and makes the Republicans look weak, foolish, and dumb. It shouldn’t be done. It sets an easy glidepath for Dems to then get beyond what anyone thought was possible in future legislation. It will be a continued destruction of our Country. Our Borders are horrible, crime is at an all time high, taxes and inflation are going way up, the economy is going way down, and now this. Don’t do it Republicans—Patriots will never forget! If this deal happens, lots of primaries will be coming your way! Donald J. Trump We won’t go back. We won’t mask our children. Joe Biden and his Adm...

Biden and Chancellor Merkel Press Conference

Image
Remarks by President Biden and Chancellor Merkel of the Federal Republic of Germany in Press Conference   BIDEN: Thank you all. Please have a seat. Today, it’s been my great honor — and I mean that — to welcome a dear friend back to the White House. And before I say anything else, Chancellor Merkel, I want to express to you and to the people of Germany my sincere condolences and the condolences of the American people for the devastating loss of life and the destruction due to the flooding over the past 24 hours in Germany and neighboring countries. It’s a tragedy, and our heart goes out — our hearts go out to the families who’ve lost loved ones.   Chancellor Merkel has been here frequently over the past 16 years. Matter of fact, she knows the Oval Office as well as I do. But all kidding aside, through — though this administration — she’s been there for four years — for four Presidents.   But I want to take a moment to acknowledge the historic nature of her chancellorship....

Coffee Beans Image by  Couleur  from  Pixabay     Used coffee grounds equivalent to six million lattes will be composted into Victorian gardens as the Andrews Labor Government boosts funding for new and innovative projects to divert food waste from landfills. Creative approaches such as bike repair sheds, neighbourhood compost hubs and mobile dishwashing stations to reduce single-use plastics will inspire Victorians to see the many ways to reuse waste and find another life for items previously destined for landfill. Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio today announced grant recipients under the Recycling Victoria Councils and Communities Funds with more than $4 million in grants to be shared between 50 projects. Not-for-profit organisation Reground has been awarded $170,000 to expand its program collecting used coffee grounds from the hospitality sector for use on local gardens. Reground will extend its service to more than 100 new...

This lawsuit is just the beginning and just one part of a bigger fight.  This suit isn’t the whole battle: it’s an opening shot. NSW Police across the state are continuing to conduct compliance operations targeting metropolitan residents travelling to regional NSW in contravention of Public Health Orders. State Emergency Operations Controller, Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys, said now is not the time to move out of Greater Sydney. “We want to make it clear that police in Greater Sydney and our regional locations are sharing information and will continue to patrol transport hubs to check that people are complying with the stay-at-home direction,” Deputy Commissioner Worboys said.
